Our first game was against Clifford Bridge from Coventry. We dominated possession and had many chances to score, with Callum having 4 shots, one of which was brilliantly saved by the goalkeeper. Our defensive pairing of Cherno and Rocco were not challenged during this game and we were disappointed to draw a blank. Fallings Park 0-0 Clifford Bridge.
Our second game was against Chad Vale from Harborne. In this game, we were very sloppy with possession, panicking when we should have had more composure. Our passing was not as good and unfortunately, some good link up play from the opposition allowed their striker to slot the ball into the corner of the goal with their only chance of the game. In a very tight game with few chances, the clinical finish made a difference. Fallings Park 0-1 Chad Vale.
Our third game was against the very strong Sacred Heart from Aston, who had excellent attacking talent in their team. We were on the back foot again during this game but we defended very well. Lucas made two outstanding saves, including one with his feet, to deny their number 9. On this occasion, we were thrilled with a 0-0 draw. Sacred Heart finished runners-up of the whole tournament. Fallings Park 0-0 Sacred Heart.
Our fourth and final game was against SS Peter & Paul from Erdington and Saltley. They were the best team we played against on the day, although we were fully in the game throughout. We had two excellent chances, which were off target. This allowed SS Peter & Paul to break and their player cleverly rolled the ball to the side and tapped the ball into the corner of the goal to make it 0-1. Our heads did not drop and we pressed for an equaliser. Some successive corners, taken by Logan, allowed the ball to be flicked on to Roshane at the back post, who acrobatically finished to make it 1-1. It was a great goal! We pushed for the winner and when Deneal just could not get a clean contact onto the ball, the keeper made an important save to keep it at 1-1. SS Peter & Paul went on to win the tournament so this was an excellent result for us. Fallings Park 1-1 SS Peter & Paul.
We played and did not lose to both the winners and the runners-up of the whole tournament. We did the City of Wolverhampton and ourselves proud. Most of all we enjoyed and learnt a lot from playing against excellent teams.
