The draw was a tough one: we were against Northwood Park and St. Stephens, with only the winners advancing to the semi-finals. However, we managed to beat both teams twice, scoring some incredible tries with exciting solo runs and patient consecutive passes. This meant we progressed from the group, winning all 4 group games.
In the quarter finals, we faced Uplands. This was another difficult match, but the team advanced again, thanks to some terrific defending and amazing attacking skills. The semi-finals pitted us against St. Barts, a team we had faced previously and drawn against at Moreton. However, they were no match for us this time, and we were able to defeat them 5-2 to progress to the final.
Now, it was time. Time for us to go that one final step. Runners up last year, we wanted to win it this year. Bhylls Acre were the opponents, and it was the toughest match, as expected. 4-4 was the final score, meaning it went to extra time and golden try. After a few anxious minutes, finally Megan Cox was able to touch the ball down for the winning try! 5-4 to Fallings Park and a 4th city title was ours!
Gold medals were received by all, and an opportunity to represent Wolverhampton at the Black Country Games on June 23rd.
What a day it was! Well done to all who played.
