On Wednesday 29th November, we headed to St Chad’s to take part in the area Sports Hall Athletics competition. It was the first time any of us had competed at this event and we had been training hard for the occasion. Having competed in seven different disciplines, the scores were all added up. Out of 7 teams, Fallings Park Blue team finished in 2nd place, winning silver medals and Fallings Park Red team finishing in first place, winning fabulous gold medals, to the delight of everyone that had come to support us. This means we qualify for the city finals in December. Lots more hard work to do before then with some new events and we are all looking forward to the challenge.
Goalscorers: Callum x2, Roshane x2, Harley, Cherno, Logan x2, Deneal,OG x2
Our second home game of the season, we played Wodensfield. We battled really well, winning every tackle and by half time it was 6 – 0. With goals from Callum x2, Roshane, Harley, Cherno and Logan. We kept the ball well and were clinical with our finishing.
After half time, the whistle had blew for the second half; we kept winning every tackle, keeping possession and played some lovely passes between Rocco, Callum and Roshane. Wodensfield struggled to keep the ball, which lead FPPS scoring another couple of goals by Roshane, Deneal, two own goals and a screamer by Logan. There was also some great interplay by Rocco and Logan. The final result was 11-0 to Fallings Park.
The man of the match this week went to Callum, who played really well by assisting 3 and getting 2 goals. Some other people stood out such as Logan, Rocco, Roshane and the rest of the team played well! Another good win before our Inter Schools National Cup tournament.
Match report by Rocco and Callum
Our first away game of the season saw us travel to Trinity on a cold, rainy Tuesday afternoon. We started well, having lots of possession and a couple of early shots, one of which hit the post from Deneal. After that, some good interplay by Rocco and Logan released Harley down the left hand side, who ran onto the through ball and hit a powerful shot past the goalkeeper. 1-0 to FPPS at half time.
The second half started and we had little of the ball in the first 5 minutes. This allowed Trinity to equalise from a corner 1-1.
Trinity continued to have more possession than us and we had to defend well until Lemuel won the ball back. We then played some lovely passes between our team to get the ball up the pitch. The ball was passed to Logan, who then took a snapshot from the edge of the box under pressure. This fortunately went through the ‘keeper’s legs to make it 2-1 to FPPS.
We now gained the upper hand again and from a throw in on the right, the ball was played to Deneal, who drove through Trinity’s defence and, unluckily, hit the post for the 2nd time in the game. Happily for us, this time the ball rebounded straight to Roshane who tapped it in to make it 3-1.
Our fourth goal came from another throw in which Roshane battled to keep possession and crossed it in for Callum to flick it into the back of the net for 4-1.
For our first away game, the result was an important one. The pitch was overgrown and the weather was damp, which made for tricky conditions. We battled hard and came away with the win for another 3 points.
Logan was man of the match for his positioning, passing and keeping the ball, also scoring a goal and assisting one.
